Animation 1 (15 mins)

Set up:

  • 1x medium-sized square, 1x larger square around the outside
  • All players with a ball
  • Split into teams - i.e. Brazil & Germany
Play:
  • When you shout 'Brazil' players must dribble to the opposite side of the square
  • When you shout 'Germany' players must dribble to the opposite side of the square
  • 1 pt for being the first person back
Progressions:
  • Coach starts the second group off, as the first team are still dribbling 
  • Increase the speed by calling the teams more regularly - this should cause a bit of chaos
  • Add a 'defender' in the middle (or more than one!)

Coaching points (these are designed to cover 5-16 years of abilities, so don't worry if your group can;t do them all!):
  • What skill will they use to stop the ball?
  • What skill will they use to come back in the opposite direction?
  • Change Direction
  • Change Pace

  • Laces to control the ball
