Structured Build up Play - Beat the Press

Organisation:
- Set up as shown in diagram, 6v6+1
- Ball always begins with the keeper
- Team in possession must play with pink player to progress into the final third
- One defender can progress into the middle third to create a 4v2 overload
- One midfielder can support the attacker to create a 2v2 in the final third and score in the large goal.
- If team in possession looses the ball they must return back to their zones.
- If defenders win the ball (blue) they can score in the big goals as well with the same rules applying.
Coaching Points:
- Create angles to support and receive the ball
- Passing quality to maintain possession
- Decision making when to progress play
- Exploit overloads
- Defending team to force play wide
Progressions:
- If team in possession is getting out of their defensive zone easy the allow a midfielder and defender from opposite team to push into next zone once ball is played.
- One defender can go through two different zones when their team is in possession.

Organisation:
- Set up as shown in diagram, 8v7 set up in a 433
- Offside rule applies
- Two wide zones for yellow fullbacks to operate in unopposed.
- Objective is for yellows to build out from the back and beat opposition press by using wide or central areas.
- If yellows score a goal using wide areas = 1 goal, if they can combine centrally and score = 2 goals
- Objective of blue is to press in the shaded area and win the ball back and score.
- If blue win the ball back they can use all areas of the pitch to combine and score.
- If blue score =2 goals, must score within 15sec.
Coaching Points:
- Role of keeper to control play
- Draw opponent in to play through or around
- Don't force play, can reset and build again
- Maintain positions as you would in the game
- Create angles to support and receive the ball
- Passing quality to maintain possession
- Exploit overloads
Progressions:
- Add zone in behind defending team (blue) to force a higher press (shaded stripped area)
- Allow defending team (blue) out into wide areas to press and win the ball
- Attacking team (yellow) can rotate one player in and out of wide zone to confuse the opposition.

Organisation:
- Set up two areas as shown in the diagram.- Bounces on outside (yellow) pass to players on the inside (blue), the look to play on the opposite side.
- Run fir 2min sets then rotate players.

Progressions:
- Add more players in the middle for confusion
- Add defenders to pressure Blues when receiving
