Organisation (Practice Layout & Transition) General Practice 

  • Working on the principle of switching play but with specific focus on teamwork.
  • 2 teams of 4 players (+1 neutral player supporting the team in possession)

  • Working at high intensity for 3 x 4-minute blocks. (Working anaerobic fitness of players).
  • Terminal feedback will give additional rest time to players.

Teamwork

Challenges, conditions and targets:

Challenge: Teams must look to score in each of the four games spread around the pitch. The first team to score in every goal wins a point. The team with most points wins.

Conditions: 40 x 35m area with a mini goal at the centre of each side of the square. 

Targets: 4 mini goals spread around the pitch.

 

Key Points:

Communication between player in the same team is key in order to score in goals to score points and overall win the game. Also, importance on working together in stopping the opposition from scoring in goals when out of possession.

in possession 

  • Receive ball on back foot to open pitch up and also open up as many of the targets as possible.
  • Exploit the space.
  • Ball speed.

Out of possession:  

  • Pressure on the ball.
  • Keep play predictable. 

Progressions: 

  • complete 5 passes before they can score,
  • teams must score in each goal in order,
  • cannot go back to the same one twice in a row.
