Warm Up (10 mins)
The heart raiser - The training session would commence with light jogging to the end of a line of cones and back. This would be followed by some dynamic stretches and simple exercises such as open/close the gate and skipping lightly. Continuing to use the cones the players would then complete two glides one way then another and sprint to the end, this would be repeated but with the glides done backwards and the players spinning around to burst into a sprint. Each exercise would be done twice. After the player’s muscles have warmed up the team would then stand in a circle and rotate some static stretches with each stretch lasting around 10 seconds. Lastly, the players would complete some ball work to help prepare them mentally and rehearse a few basic skills. The players would split into two lines (using the same cones as before) and start to dribble in between the cones with close control, once a player reaches the end of the line they would then ping the ball back to the player standing at the front of the cones, this would then be repeated by the next player. Duration – 10-15 minutes
