Midfield Rotation
Session Objectives
1) Rotation to enable play through a deep midfielder
2) Movement from 8 and 10 to open up pass to 9

Passing Exercise - 12 mins
Organisation
This passing exercise is designed to make players take responsibility and practise moving after passing the ball. The coach introduces certain rules and the players have to work the ball from one set of target players to the others.
Rule 1 -The middle players (red square) must stay diagonally opposite.
Rule 2 - Middle players must move after passing
Rule 3 - The end players cannot pass to the nearest middle player
Rule 4 - No straight passes allowed
Rule 5 - Every player must move after passing
Progression - end players try and rotate with central players where appropriate

Passing Exercise - (5 minutes)
Organisation
Three players (6,8 and 10) in a 24x24yd box. Players 4 and 10, 10 yards beyond box. First player plats into 4, who opens up to play to 6. 8, 10 and 9 check off to receive and 6 decides which pass to play.
Rotation
First player to 4, 4 to 6, 6 to 10, 10 to 8, 8 to 9, 9 to next group
Coaching Points
4 - check shoulder, check off cone, first touch then accurate pass into 6.
6 - stay long and drop in as late as possible at an angle to receive with an open body / accuracy, weight disguise of forward pass
8 and 10 - check away from cone to receive from 6

Passing Exercise - Progression - 5 mins
Organisation
Same as previous slide except, upon 4 opening up, 6 leaves space to allow 8 to receive at an angle and make the passing decision. Upon 8s movement, 10 moves in space 8 has departed.
Rotation
First player to 4, 4 to 6, 6 to 9, 8 to 10, 10 to 8, 9 joins new line.

Passing Exercise - with pressure - 10 mins
Organisation
Same exercise as previously now under pressure. Begin 3v1, add defender to 3v2 then 3v3 in central zone.
Rotation
4 comes into midfield and one of the midfield 3 drops out
Coaching Points
- Encourage rotaton of midfield 3
- looking to get on the half turn and play forward
- look to make space for others as well as yourself
- Go back to 4 if unable to turn

9v9 Game
Organisation
Teams line up 1-4-3-1 in a full width, 15-30-15yd area. Teams must play through the central third to score. Focus on letting the players play with minimal stoppages.
