Instructions:
Set up on half or ¾ of field depending on numbers
9v6 - Build up play
All balls start from GK - Burgundy look to build to counter goals
Yellows win possession, go to big goal
Progressions:
Add in Yellow 2,3
Attacking Coaching Points:
Starting Positions - Why are they so important - Maximize space to create time for ball carrier
Can we take the space that is given - Decision making of GK
Movement patterns of the 6 to create passing lanes to 8 and 10
Can 8 and 10 work in opposites - Ball travels one way, opposite movement
Once ball hits 8 and 10 - How does entry pass affect next action - Angle, speed of pass affects the supporting runs
To score in counter goals - Have to play into 8 and 10 first
Looking for ways create numbers up situations
Defending Coaching Points:
Shape of first defender - Reading visual cues and body shape. E.g. Do they have a closed body shape and will not expand play...
Force play sideways and backwards by being compact in the middle of the field
1st defender engage and make it predictable - 2nd, 3rd, 4th defenders - read angle and speed of approach
Position yourself in between the ball and goal
Urgency to get out and press - Regain possession and have composure to keep
