Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Attack vs Defence - CV Academy

Set up: Area roughly 30x30 yrds with a 5yrd wide chanell either side. positon 2 small target goals one end with a large goal at other with Gk, 3 teams of 4/5 with 2 teams on pitch and one resting. 

Format: Play 5v4 with 1 player resting, GK plays into attacking team  to score in big goal, if def wins ball they score in target goals. Wide channels are placed to encourage attackers to open area up & stretch defending team. After ball has ended the defending team will become attackers, attackers leave the pitch and the team of resting enter to become the defenders for a rotation. 

Key points: Maintain width to stretch the pitch and attempt to pull defenders out of position to create openings to play through or provide crosses into attacking zone. 

1v1 positivity  By switching play and using the width of area to create 1v1's attackers to look to dominate and beat defenders. 

Speed of play to open up defensive organisation through quick combination play and forward runs. 

Defensive organisation to make it hard for the attacking team, press with aggression and remain compact, communicate as a unit to close up space,
