Wide Attacking Free Kick

Wide Direct Free-Kick

Organization:

  • 2 players on the ball (A & B)
  • 4 players stacked on the corner of the opposite side of the ball 18-yard box.
Execution:
  • Player B runs over the ball.
  • Player A plays a perfectly weighted pass to Player B.
  • Player B serves the ball far post to Player C. Player C makes a run around players D, E, F to make space from the defender. Player C either tries to score the ball far post towards crashing players D, E, F.
  • Player A moves toward the top of the box for a rebound.
  • If a wall man breaks off to guard player B, Player A serves the ball into the mix of attackers and Player B curls the run and crashes the net.
Coaching Points:

  • Time runs, do not be too early.
  • D, E & F be big and make space for player C
  • Drive the service.
  • Crash the net.

Attacking free kick

Attacking free kick:

Target -> Far post runner

How?

Set up:

Two players on the ball, one player with the wall, five players in the box

1) First player will run over the ball, play it backwards and keep running, hopefully dragging one of the defensive wall players

2) Now two movements need to be timed perfectly at the same time: the player on the wall turns and start making his run to the box, and the player that was on the far side of the box runs towards the top of the box

3) Player now on top of the box gives a one touch pass to the wall runner, while all the other players wait in the box (even though they are offside, the ball is being played to the wall runner that is on side)

4) Wall runner plays it back into the box for the finish and goal

Animation 3

Outside player runs up to and past the ball down the line asking for a pass and doesn't get it. Outside player acts frustrated that they didn't get the ball as they walk back to reset for the kick (deception). As they walk back, they then run up to the ball and cross it in, hopefully catching the defending team asleep.
