This session is designed to promote build up and traps for high press teams. Also scanning the pitch regularly will be a common theme.

Method: Passing Pattern 1 Build up trap - once the GK picks a side to distribute the CB DM and CM on that side tilt to the ball, We make 4-5 passes and set to the keeper and switch sides. Once switched repeat the process on this side.
Coaching Points: Players react to where the GK passes, create a mini rondo on that side of the pitch, Good set to GK, type of pass?? Opposite player might drop to enable an easier pass for the GK. DM movement is key here to dominate the space. Player in possession must have at least two options at al times. Progressions: Add a defender in each square, Add a Defender to put pressure on CB's and GK.

Method: 5v5+1 4-goal game. Blues v Reds with a magic man. Both teams have two goals they can score in marked by colour cones above. No pass limit.
Coaching Points: Regularly scan for free goal and can we switch quickly to the free space. Can we set a trap around one goal to score in the other? Dominate the space(make sure we have options to switch as well) Off the ball movement here will need to be important. Can we recreate the rondos that we used in our patterns game? How do we recreate this?

Directional Rondo (20 mins)
Method:4v2 + 3v1 Rondo plays 4v2 in one square, get 5 passes, transfer ball to other grid, one from blue and red move into that square to make it 4v2 again. If a red player wins the ball he now plays with possession.
Coaching Points: Be aware of the number of passes so we can switch, Movement has to be good from opposite square when not in possession, Both sides need to focus on the play and be ready for the switch of play. Support players need to move across quickly to maintain/win Possession. Speed of play. How many touches? When to be quick and when to pause.
