These are the two passing combination drills we have focused on so far this season. They help with weight and quality of passing, communication, showing to receive a pass.

Phase 4 - Player A passes the ball into player B and moves into correct position to receive pass back. Player B passes ball into path of player A who plays a pass into player C. Player C plays in back to Player A who lays it off to Player C who has peeled around and showed for the ball. Player B now plays into the path of player C who dribbles ball forward and pass into next player A. Run on both sides
Once (if) they get going then try to progress to 1 touch.

Set Up
8 pylons setup as seen in the diagram. Can be done 5-7 players. Distance can very depending on shill and fitness level.
Instructions
1 - Player A starts with the ball and passes to the outside of the cone to Player B's outside foot and goes into the central square.
2 - As the ball is being played to player B, player C gets into position, never taking their eye off the ball getting ready to receive the ball from player B.
3 - After player B passes the ball to player C they go into the central box
4 - Player C receives the ball from Player B and plays it player D then goes into the central box.
The process continues around the diamond. After the player returns to the central square they will show at the next pylon. ie next time Player B will receive the ball they will be in the position previously held by Player C. Everyone is rotating stations every pass.
Progressions
- Change direction (counter clockwise)
- 2 balls
Key Factors
- Quality and weight of passing.
- Opening up to receive the pass on your front foot.
- Being in position to receive the pass as the player before you receives the ball.
- Communication in the central square to avoid confusion.
- What message are you sending with your pass?

Phase 2 Diamond Passing
Instructions
1 - Player A will pass to Player B's back foot and get into position to receive a pass back from B.
At the same time player C is leaving the central grid to receive pass from A.
2- Player B lays the ball off for player A and peels out to get into position to receive a pass from player C.
3 - Player A will pass across the diamond to player C and return into central grid.
4 - Player C will lay ball off to Player B and then peel off to receive the ball from player D
5 - Player B will pass across the diamond to player D and return into central grid.
The ball continues going around the diamond. Everytime a ball is played there is a lay off followed by a penetrating pass across the diamond.

- 1 touch everywhere

- Quality and weight of passing
- Never stand still after you make a pass
- Get into a good position to receive the ball from a team mate (no hiding)
- What message are you sending with your pass.
- Communication throughout drill.

Developping Y Passing Patterns - 15 Minutes
Equipment Needed: Pylons, Balls
Setup: Can be done anywhere. Size of Y can vary depending on group size and fitness level desired and length of pass.
Phase 1 - Player 1 plays a pass the player 2. Player 2 turns with the ball and plays to player 3. Player 3 dribbles the ball forward and plays to the next player in line. Players follow their pass each
time and direction is switched each time (ie pass to 3 then to 3B).
Phase 2 - Player 1 passes the ball into player 2 and moves into correct position to receive pass back. Player 2 passes ball into path of player 1 who plays a pass into player 3. Player 2 peels
around the goes to back of line of player 3. Player 3 dribbles the ball forward and playes to next player # 1. Same on both sides.

around and receives the ball back from player 3. 5 -Player 2 now plays into the path of player 3 who dribbles ball forward and pass into next player 1.
Progression - can it be played 1 touch?
Coaching Points: Correct passing technique and weight. Checking to receive ball. Play the pass to correct foot to keep the flow. Good first touch out of feet and controlled dribble with outside of foot. Dribble with outside of feet.
