Key Points
Working on teamwork, using defensive unit. Set up as shown as a specific practice for back 4 and GK, but could easily change to back 3 or 5, or a four with a CDM. (can also be made into a gen practice with mini-goals if no GK available, as long as there are a min of two defending players then can worko the teamwork aspect).
Play is in 5 x 3 min blocks with 1 min rest between.
Blue team have to score as many goals as they can. Red have to keep score as low as possible.
Blue have ever increasing numbers of players, 1 extra added in every 30 secs from either holding box, as soon as ball goes dead, blue play in from half way line quickly to keep pressure on reds.
Coaching points.
Protect the middle, force wide, stop/defend the cross & body on the line.
Specifically here, really looking for the defensive unit to work as a team, they will be under increasing amounts of constant pressure. Putting body on the line and working for each other wil be key to success, also good communication, especially as it get tougher, will be looking for the players to support each other.
