Organization: 4 lines setup as shown, with the balls at A
Instructions: A plays ball who B, B sets the ball back for A to play a ball into the path of C on the wing. Immediately after the pass A&B make runs into the box C takes a touch and plays a cross into the path of A/B. Sequence is now repeated with D now being played in down the wing.
Rotation is A-B-C/D-A
Coaching Points:
Player on the wing must drive down the wing at speed, their ability to drive the wing will help to bring the defense deep into their box, which in turn will allow for the space to develop towards the edge of the box.
Timing of the runs- How must we delay our runs to be able to provide us with an angle to attack the cutback ball? Communication amongst the 2 runners as well as the visual cues.
If the player is driving to the line, the runs must be held and allowed to not be too deep into the boss and unable to make a play on the ball.
Visual Cues must be observed by the runners to time their runs, when the player has head up the visual connection has been made, once their head goes down the ball is about to be played.
Delivery quality and placement- crosser must recognize where the ball must be played to allow the runners to be able to make a a play on the ballwhile eliminating the keepers ability to make a save on the ball
Communication- Verbal and Visual communication amongst the players off the ball and the crosser.
Progressions:
Progression- Have a trailing player at C/D provide passive pressure
Progression- Add in a central defender
Regression: Have B receive ball from A and play C into space on the wing
