GOALKEEPER #1
- Excellent technical ability with both feet.
- Ability to pass accurately over a range of distances
when the ball is on the ground.
- Good distribution over a range of distances using a range of
throwing techniques.
- Strong handling ability (dealing with crosses, retaining shots
into the body). Stong shot stopping ability (high / low diving
saves).
TEAM IN POSSESSION
- Plays with speed and control when in possession of the ball.
- Always positioned to receive a pass from teammate as part of
build up play.
- Pass decision – hit 7, 9, 11 in order to launch a counterattack,
switch the point of attack (If needed)
- When in possession in the attacking half, step up outside of box as a supporting player.
TEAM NOT IN POSSESSION
- Good starting Positioning in relation to the ball, teammates and opposition.
- Communication with defensive line in relation to position of the ball and opposition. Command the penalty area.
- Understands how to protect the goal (near post, far post, attacks from central areas)
- Being proactive – always thinking and assessing.
- Has a strong will / desire to prevent conceding goals.
- Dominant in 1v1 situations.

FULL BACKS #2 & 3
- Good first touch control.
- Good dribbling ability
- Good passing technique over short and medium distances.
Strong crosser of the ball – particularly when in motion (Ability
to execute at speed).
TEAM IN POSSESSION
- Looks to join the attack to provide an overload (Overlapping) in
wide areas. Timing of runs.
- Provides balance when the point of attack is changed. Always
in a position to receive the ball during build up. (High and wide)
- Strong Pass selection – penetrate or retain possession.
- Enjoys the attacking element to the game.
TEAM NOT IN POSSESSION
- Recovery / positional change in transition.
- Strong communication with teammates.
- Understands offside trap
- Excellent 1v1 defender, Explosive over short, medium and long distances.
- Willingness to work hard for the team
- Patient and calm - Never jumping into challenges and always pushing opposition outside when in our defensive half

MIDFIELDERS #6
6 - Holding Midfielder
- link up play between back four and midfield
- Preventing or slowing down opposition attacks
- Discipline
- Winning possession of the ball from the opposition and breaking up play
- Ability to maintain possession, switch points of attack in central or wide areas
#8 & 10 - Attacking Midfielders
- Finding gaps and splits through combination play to connect with the 7, 11 & 9
- Excellent range of passing techniques - inside / outside / driven
/ Curved.
- Excellent passing over various ranges – short / medium /
longer.
- Medium / long range shooting. Composure in front of goal.
- Excellent first touch control – in tight areas / under pressure.
- Creative players within the team. Capable of producing a
moment of magic in attack. Will look to go beyond the attackers
in the attempt to finish, can find solution to the puzzle.
- Always want to receive the ball.
- Disciplined and responsible – must work for the team in attack and defense. Play with confidence and assurance.
TEAM IN POSSESSION

for near post or central runners.

- Pass quality – ability to penetrate a defense with a pass.
Finishing ability – balls in the air or on the ground.
- Creating wide and making out to in runs to break lines in behind
TEAM IN POSSESSION
- Always in a position to receive the ball and go forward with
first touch.
- Cross decision using M.O.D.E. (Moment, Observation, Decision,
Execution). Timing of runs to meet crosses (far post run).
- Penetrating runs in behind the back four
- Combining with supporting players (2/3, 8, 10, 9)
- Patient – willing to continually make attacking runs without always receiving the ball.
