Steve Gummer from the Charlotte Academy ran this session on combinations in a 4-3-3 formation at the 2016 NSCAA Convention in Baltimore. Very good session to work on the movements of #6, #8 and #10

Set Up:
Added in Number 9 to previous drill
Organization
In this set up he would have the #6, #8 and #10 rotate positions each time to give them a different look and mix up the pattern
Progression
- Added in realistic defenders into the middle area. This put more emphasis on the movement from 6, 8 and 10.
- Progression 2 - worked both ways with 3 defenders in the middle trying to work out from their side in same format - at this point patterns of player were flexible.
Progression 3 - Added a #9 on defensive team to pressure the #4 and #5 for the black team.
Coaching Points
- Movement of #6, #8 and #10
- Different Combinations under pressure
- Angles of support
- Splitting the lines when possible
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Set Up:
Same as previously worked on - now added Goalkeepers to both sides.
Organization
Teams now played straight up 6v6 in the middle are with the yellows still acting as neutrals in the #2/7 and #3/11 roles.
Progressions
Worked on layoff to midfield players to get shot on goal - #9 acting as a target player
Coaching Points
All previous points touched upon in a more game realistic setting. Coach explained he would have progressed onto a full game if possible but was limited on time/space.
