Work on the technical aspects of body shape when defending and delaying, whilst you slow down the attacker so their teamates can recover and help

Organisation
Setup squares with cones and put the players into pairs. Each player has a bib in their shorts - on the side of their preferred foot.
instructions
Players must stay inside the square, both players have a bib hanging out of their short.They must try and steel the bib from their friend, but must not let them take their bid.
Coaching Points
- Body shape side on - body in between opposition and bib
- Be on their toes - this will help them move and react quickly
- Legs bent - this helps with quick movement, body shape and protecting the bib
- Low body position - helps to start to create the correct shape and where their body wieght needs to be

Organisation
Expand the square and make corridors. The players stay in pairs and a ball is put in the middle of each corridor
Instructions
How we approach the ball - both players run from the opposite end to meet the ball, then move back to the end line - repeat.
Coaching Points
- Run quickly to the ball
- put brakes on early and get into the correct body shape - side on
- use back foot to 'brake'
- don't stop too close to the ball / don't stop too far away from the ball
- Stop about 1 step away from the ball
- Use body shapt from the previous practice - low body / bent legs / side on
- Move back to the line watching the ball, keeping the body shape, swapping from left foot forward to right foot forward

Use the same corridor, keep players in pairs. Each pair have a ball each
Instructions
Can the player delay their opposiiton - if they keep their opposition in their half for 5 seconds they get a goal, the the player with the ball dribbles to the opposite line they get a goal. Yellows pass the ball to the blues, then close down the blue quickly using the same process from the previous practice. the blues receive the ball and muct try and dribble the ball to the opposite line.
