Passing Pairs to a bandit (10 mins)

Activity 2 - Passing Pairs to the Bandit

Have 1 bandit per pair running around. If the bandits are not getting hit by the ball, increase the amount of the bandits to increase the chance of hitting a bandit. If the pairs are having too much success, take away some bandits.

Start with half of the players with a ball and half without a ball. Those with a ball have to try and pass their soccer ball to hit the bandits below their knee with the soccer ball. Players without a ball, it is their objective to not get hit by the ball.

Progressions - Throughout entire of exercise, reinforce the mechanics of passing based upon the individual.

1) 1 rep of 45 seconds - Pairs working together to hit the bandit with the ball.

2) 1 rep of 45 seconds - Pairs working together to hit the bandit with the ball. After you have passed the ball to your partner, WHERE can you then move? WHY are you moving there?

3) 1 rep of 45 seconds - Pairs are still working together to hit the bandit with the ball. HOW do you want to stand? With your back to the bandit? Side on? Facing the bandit? WHAT 2 things do you need to be able to see?

4) 3 rep of 45 seconds - Reinforce the tactical questions during the activity. Rotate bandits every game,

Activity 3 - Passing Pairs with the bandit trying to win the ball

If there are 5 pairs of players, have 2/3 bandits. Change the amount of bandits depending upon the success of the pairs. The objective is for the bandits to keep the ball for 60-90 seconds. If the bandits are taking the ball of each group 1 or 2 times, the balance of the group is good. Anymore times than this, take away 1 bandit until there is a good balance.

Activity 2 had the passing pairs trying to pass the soccer ball at the bandit, now the roles have changed, the bandit is trying to get the ball from the passing pairs. Passing pairs no longer trying to hit the ball at the bandit, just keep it away from them.

If the bandit wins the ball, they keep it until someone wins the ball from then they go and try and get someone elses ball.
