Backwards Penalties (15 mins)

Organization:

1 Striker, 1 GK

Instructions:

Striker must choose a side and shoot a Pen into a Pugg goal.

Before the player shoots, he must call out a side.

The GK must react and make a save.

Coaching Points:

Striker must find balance between power and placement.

GK must learn to react quickly to stimuli

Progressions:

Multiple shooters rapid-fire

Each Striker calls his side on first shot, GK must remember direction for subsequent rounds of shots.

Distracted Shooter (20 mins)

Organization:

1 Liverpool Striker (White)

1 Milan GK (Green)

5 Milan Strikers (Blue)

Instructions:

The Liverpool Striker must exercise (Jumping Jacks or Run in Place) for approx. 30 seconds to increase heart rate.

The Striker has 10 seconds to relax, during which time the Milan players are allowed to distract/annoy/rattle the Striker. Physical contact IS allowed.

The Striker must then give the ready signal, after which physical contact IS NOT allowed.

The Striker must shoot.

Coaching Points:

Focus on power and placement.

Recognize signs of physical distress and learn to cope.

Progressions:

The Striker will be given an area in which he must shoot in order for the goal to count.

Instructions:

The players are assigned numbers that correspond with sections of the goal. The players must place shot inside section for a goal to count.

The Shooters will go in order, Player 2 may shoot high or low. The GK will be informed of the numbers.

Progressions:

After the first round, the Players' orders will be jumbled without notifying the GK beforehand, but they will retain their shooting section. The GK must remember which section each Shooter will aim for.

GK Wars +1 (35 mins)

Organization:

1 GK at each goal

Line of Strikers behind/to the side of each goal

Instructions:

The GK with the ball is attacking. The attacking team must have 1 GK and 1 ST on the field.

The attacking GK (Green) must roll the ball to his ST (White), and the ST has 1 touch to stop the ball and 1 touch to shoot.

The defending GK (Blue) must attempt to save the shot. If he is successful, one of his STs (Blue) enters the field and the other ST (White) must exit.

Shot placement and power

Quick reactions

Progressions:

Assign Strikers numbers that correspond with sections of the goal, and have them aim for their section.

Allow 2 Strikers (with numbers) to enter the field on attack, 2 touch rule still in place. GK must remember shot placement numbers.
