  • Instead of footballs, you could use tennis balls or cones.
  • Area is split in half. Players are split into two teams and have equal number of balls in their half. Objective is to finish the round with fewer balls in their half.

Semi-opposed

Organisation:

  • Aim is to throw the ball from the outside area and knock a cone in the middle for a point. If the defender manages to control a ball, they get to pick up a cone. Adaptation: instead of cones in the middle, use a larger ball set on a cone.
  • 4:1 attacker to defender ratio.

1. Chest throw

  • The defender must catch a ball to pick up a cone
2. Under arm throw
  • Play 1v1 tag. Once the defender controls the ball, they need to run outside the circle without the thrower catching them. Once they escape, they can pick a cone.
Coaching points:
  • Attackers are allowed to roam around the edge to take a different angle of approach.
  • Encourage energy and hard work from the defenders
  • Swap roles after a time period.

Organisation:

  • Aim is to work as a team and develop communication.
  • In order for players to receive a repetitive practice, the group is split into 3v3s with one group going horizontally in the area, while the other goes vertically.
  • It is an end-to-end zone game. Receive in the end zone to score. Ball is passed around, however, when received, the player could only pivot. Defending is non-contact.
1. Can you support your teammate by creating a passing angle?
2. Can you stretch the defenders by stretching the area?
Coaching points:
  • Positive and engaging environment.
  • Renew play quick as possible. Could have a ball nest in one corner.
