Key coaching points:
1- Discuss 2nd 6yrd area where the cross should be delivered
2- Movement of A7 to create space to receive the ball in an open body position (i.e. checking forward then back)
3- Quality of the ball in.With pace, bending into forwards, height of cross
4- A cross is a pass. Don't just hit it randomly. Pick out a target
5- Discuss technique to beat the wing defender 1vs1
6- Discuss the movement of the near striker to provide an opportunity for 1-2
7- Discuss how the wing player (A7) checks to create space for himself to receive pass 3
8- Far (weak side) midfielder attacks the back post area
9- Delay and stagger runs of A4, A6, A8. Timing of runs
10- Discuss crosses to Near, Central and Far post areas
11- Discuss driven crosses vs. hanging crosses (i.e. to the back post)
12- Discuss angle runs by attackers. Not straight on
13- Early crossing opportunities in the defenders stand off
14- Discuss passing down the line for the striker to runs diagonally onto cross
15- Can the winger drive all the way to the line and pull back a 45 degrees pass on the ground across the penalty area on the ground? Draw Gk to the near post?
16-Discuss techniques of shooting (go for accuracy not necessary for power)
17- Discuss overlaps using full backs

Crossing and finishing using full backs, wingers and 2 strikers
Organisation:
Mark out 3/4 full pitch. Start position by the green goalkeeper (this can be modified). The teams play in specific formations. The defending team play in Gk-3-2-1 (Blues). The attacking team play in Gk-3-3-2 (Reds)

Green Gk roll the ball to 1 of his defenders, then red attacking team combines with each other using flank player to create opportunities on goal. Passes should be allowed unopposed reaching wing players (A4/A7). Must work with attacking team (reds) identify key coaching points of attacking in wide areas involving crossing and finishing. The defending team can only score after 7 passes in a row.
1- A1 receives a pass from Gk
2- A1 passes to A3/A2 to simulate a pass to an outside back
3- A3/A2 then plays the ball onto A7/A4

a) Early cross into the 2nd 6yrd area
b) Via 1vs1 or 1-2 with the checking striker, deliver a late cross in the 2nd 6yrd area.
Scoring:
2 teams compete and attempt to score. The attacking team scores by scoring on the goal. The defending team have 7 touches to do so.
