Description

On both sides of the field. Have 6 players (3 behind eac cone). Begin activity with player passing to the player across him/her. The passer presses lightly and the receiving player goes around the cone going away from pressure. He/her now takes a touch into the 3 cones, and cuts back (Ronaldo Chop, Inside cut, Maradonna) out of the cones to make a pass to the player across from him/her. This repeats, next progression, passing player applies more presure until it turns into 1 v 1. This works for #2, #3 and #7 and #11. The progression continues to and becomes a 4 v 4 with shots on keeper. The activity begins with ball passed to the opposite side ( left to right and right to left. Alternating).

Coaching points. Defense: Close out offensive player. Force him/her to either the help defense, or sideline. Look to intercept long balls and crosses. The players are numbered 1-3. Number ones rotate to offense (if playing defense, then number twos and so forth).

Coaching points. Offense: Attack on first touch. Look to take on first defender. Look up. Look for teammates making runs.

Scrimmage. 6 v 6 with a small goal on one and a large goal with keeper on the other( I only did my game this way, because I only had one keeper). Free flowing game.

Coaching points. Defense. Emphasize closing down players and working as a unit to support, and close down passing lanes.

Coaching points. Offense. Keep head up, make quick decisions. First touch attack. Look to take on defenders 1 v 1 and get off a quick shot. Secondly, look to attract defenders and look for a teammate making run.
