Grassroots Coaching General Session Template
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Use this section to create your Core Activity. Remember the five elements as you design and work through the activity with your players:
1. ORGANIZED: Is the activity organized the right way?
2. GAME-LIKE: Is the activity game-like?
3. REPETITION: Is there enough repetition for the players, when looking at the overall goal of the session?
4. CHALLENGING: Are the players being challenged? Is there the right balance between being successful and unsuccessful?
5. COACHING: Is there effective coaching, based on the age and level of the players?

2nd Play Phase: The Game
Objective: (based on your topic)
Look for the right moments to coach your players through the game. Opportunities to provide feedback may come from one-on-one conversations, moving ball demonstrations, or the traditional freeze method. Do not joystick coach through this phase. Instead, try to point out moments when they are demonstrating the topic that you just worked on, and give then chances to correct any deficiencies that may show up.

Intentional Free Play (15 mins)
1. Play for 6-7 minutes with no coaching information, then give a quick water break. Before they get a drink, begin to offer some of your open-ended questions for the players to think about as they related to your topic - but without giving them any answers.
2. Come back from water break, and let them play another 6-7 minutes
3. End the game and then bring everyone together, asking them the same open-ended questions you posed during the water break, and see what their responses are.
