Organisation:
- 15x15 yrd square
- 2 defenders in middle
- 4 players with ball on outside, 1 ball each
- 4 mini-goals (use cones as alternative)
Objective: Players with the ball have to try and get past the defender to the other side of the square. Players can move at anytime. 1 defender in the middle tries to win the ball. If defenders win the ball they can try and score in one of the mini-goals.
Progression Examples:
- to simplify: only allow 1 or 2 outside players to move with the ball at any one time
- defenders can work together to win the ball and score a goal
- 2v2 - one ball between the 2 on the outside
- players on outside can run and try and score in one of the opposite mini-goals
Key Points:
- Delay
- Deny
- Dictate
- Body position
- wait for opportunity to tackle

Organisation:
- 3v3 or 4v4
Condition Examples:
1) Retreat into own half on GK - cannot defend until opposition are in your half (encourage players to run with the ball towards the defending team)
2) When receive the ball, must try and run forwards with the ball (giving defenders chance to practice their technique)

Tail-Tag - 1v1
Organisation:
1v1 mini-games
Each player has a bib that they tuck in as a tail ON THE SIDE/ON THEIR HIP.
Have a central cone for players to move around
Make sure the bib is on the hip - players will automatically adopt a good defending position
Objective: try and take your partners bib and protect your own
Progressions:
- play against different people in the group, still 1v1.
- 2v2 or 3v3 games
- add a ball per person (they can hold it, bounce it, keep control with their feet, as they want), but it is still tail tag not tackling
Key Points:
- Body position
- eyes on the feet of opponent not their head
- waiting for opportunity to take their bib, not just chasing
