Passing Movement 1 (Groups of 5-6)
Development of technical ability with the ball, as well as ensuring that ball control is positive despite fatigue.
Set up: Two players on the outside of the box and two players on the inside of the mannequin
1. Fitness Based
- Inside players recieve ball from the outside players who then return the ball. (1,2)
- Once the ball has been returned, run around the pole and receive from the other outer player.
- Continuous practice for 2-3 minutes, swap roles.
2. Technical practice
- Inner player recieves the ball from outside player, who spins around the pole either left or right (on coaches instructions) and passes the ball to opposite outer player.
- Continuous practice for 2-3 minutes before switching.
Progression: As oppose to dribbling round the mannequin, return the pass to outer player who passes the ball into space for inner player to meet the pass.
3. Tactical practice
- 6 - 10 - 4 - 9
- Create angles to be found around the mannequin
- Up back and through, midfielders opening their body to set their midfield partner
- Role rotation every 2-3 minutes

4 group circuit - 3-4 minutes each x 2 rounds
(Rest of 4 minutes after 1 round of the circuit)
1. Indian Run
Players run in a line, when the coach blows the whistle the player at the back of the group must become the leader of the pack.
2. Staggered sprints
Through half of pitch use selection of 'sprint zones'
Zone 1 - Red - white - red - white - red (Sprint, jog backwards, sprint, jog backwards, sprint)
Zone 2 - Fast feet through yellow cones
Zone 3 - Jog with ladders (both feet in each step)
Zone 4 - Interval sprints (change speed at each cone)
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
1. 4 point passing movement
- Full, set, wide and through movement
- Movement off the cone, either side of cone to create the positive angle
- Player in the middle to interchange with player 'setting the ball' once inside player has played the ball wide
- Movement off mannequin to provide realism
2. 4 point passing movement
- Up, back, through, wide movement
- Once central player has set from pass 1, they will swap positions and outer player will become central player
- Player at the top of the diamond recieves and switches play to change the dimension of the pattern following the up, back and through principle.
Focus on the principle as a development through the thirds, highlight importance to move off the ball.

Possession Exercise in Groups of 5/6
*Social Distancing Applies*
- Players on outside of square aim to pass the ball through the inside of the square to meet a team mate without the defender intercepting the ball.
- Outer players to move the ball quickly to 'move' the defender around (in sense of switching play to pull defenders out of position)
Defender will become attacker once they:
- Win the ball 3x
- Players on outside make 3x mistakes
Once a player concedes the ball through the square they must complete a 1 press up forfeit
