PROBLEM 1
REDs sit very deep and stay very compact. The play is forced wide but they shuffle across well.
BLUES speed of play has to be fast. BLUE LDF plays as a high LB who tries to force the RED CMs across and to play a little higher to create space in front of RED back 4. BLUE CF & BLUE CAM stay central and BLUE RW stays high and wide to provide width and BLUE DF provides a pivot point and depth in case a counter happens. Width is key to breaking the team down and BLUE LCM maintains a higher position to run into half space for a ball from BLUE LW - Cross then comes in for BLUE CF, RCM & RW.

Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
BLUES (Coached) (1-2-2-3-1)
REDS (Oppo Management) (1-4-2-1-1)
PROGRESSIONS (BLUES) -
Engagement line comes 5 yards further towards half way line & pivot player (Keeper) drops out of practice. 10s time limit comes in to force the intensity of the attack. REDs can engage right from the start of SP in midfield zone.
REGRESSIONS (BLUES) -
Engagement line goes back by 5 yards. Pivot player (Keeper) can be turned into a CB with 2 DFs playing wider as more progressive full backs.
Challenges, Conditions or Targets:
"Can we get the CF on the ball within 3 passes". "Can we get a shot away in 15s". CM's - "Can LCM push on into the space between RCB and RB".
COND -
BLUE - can only have 10s in total in the zone behind the white line (between halfway and white line).
REDs - Can only passively press in the midfield zone - until the coach progresses the exercise.
Target - BLUES go and score a goal. If scored within 15s - two goals.
REDs go and win the ball back and score in goal. If possession is regained and score goal within 15s - two goals.

PROBLEM 2
REDs play higher up the pitch - they can now actively press and counter in the oppos midfield area.
with a higher line, this creates less space for midfield players to get on the ball.
BLUE CF stays in an offside position for most of the build up and waits for a square pass (cross) to try and give the RED CBs something to think about. BLUE DFs take up a wider position to force a fast ball out to wider areas meaning that the REDs have to slide across fast. BLUE CAM stays central as the focal point with the CF temporarily out of play. BLUE RW & LW could have 2v1 overload with LCM or RCM to play in half space. Whichever side the play is the BLUE DF from opposite side of play tucks around to play centrally as part of a 'rest defence'.
