Learning objective- This is a progression from the first part of the drill and the pressing team (blue) has one less player than the other team meaning it's a 6v5, the objectives still remain the same and it's to press as a team and win the ball back within 45 seconds.
The drill will start with the other teams center back, and the blue team will start to press from the front trying to win the ball back in 30 seconds.
1) The blue forward will press the center back on the ball closing them down and cutting off some of the passing options.
2) As blue were playing a 2-1-1 this means one of the center mids will press the other center back to cut of that passing option or to win the ball back as the one of the blue center backs will cover the their position as the other center back stays and marks the other teams striker.
Individual tasks- force the ball back to the keeper or intercept the ball by pressing high up the pitch.
Group task for this drill- communicate between the midfield and defence on who pushes to the ball and who stays in position and to win the ball back in 45 seconds.
Interventions- The interventions for this drill would be drive by coaching: such as reminding the players of the LO and tasks of the drill also asking questions of the players and getting them involved and getting them a good understanding of the drill. In this drill praise would be used as an intervention to help players with their confidence in the session.
Technical - body shape of the player when pressing, movement speed to get into position to press to other team.
Tactical- pressing as a team will lead to misplaced passes which leads to a throwing for the pressing team or a intercepted pass which leads to a goal scoring chance.
Physical- The players sprint speed to the ball to press the center back on the ball, any contact on the player when pressing for the ball, coordinating the body to get the body into position for a tackle or to keep pressing.
Psychological- decision making for the players for example the decision to jump out of the teams shape and press the other team for the ball.
social- communication who goes to the ball who stays in position.
