WE 3-4 Early Cross on the ground Warm up (30 mins)

Aim:

- WE 3-4 Early cross on the ground

Organization:

- 6 plays ball to 7, who turns and dribbles down the line, and crosses early before he reaches the second cone

- As the 7 turns and dribbles, the 9 starts to make a run into the box for the early cross

- 9 tries to score on the goal

- Players move to where they passed the ball

- Same process is happening on the other side simultaneously

Coaching Points:

- Early cross to play ball in front of 9

- Cross on the ground and curling inwards away from the keeper

- Timing of the run from the 9

- Adjusting your feet to get a good finish

Progressions / Variations:

- Rotate the other way so now they are using their left

- Add a defender who starts to the side of the 9 to make it more realistic

WE 3-4 Early Cross 5v5+2 (60 mins)

Aim:

- WE 3-4 Early Cross

Organization:

- 5v5+2 (1, 3, 6, 10, 9) 7/11 neutral

- Both teams trying to score on the goal, double points from an early cross

- Neutrals only ones allowed in the blue/red zone

- 40-60 yards long, 40-55 yards wide

Coaching Points:

- In transition moments find the 7/11 early

- Good first touch by 7/11 to set up for cross

- Movement by attackers to get into positions for the early cross

- Good firm cross on the ground curling towards attackers

- Adjusting feet to finish

Progressions / Variations:

- Allowed to pressure the neutrals

- Take away neutrals - make it 6v6 (1, 3, 10, 7, 9, 11)

Aim:

- WE 3-4 Early Crossing ground

Organization:

- 5v5+2 (1, 3, 6, 10, 9) neutral 5/7 and 2/11

- Goals 10 yards offcentre to create enough width for crossing and depth for space for the early cross

- 40 width by 50-60 long

- No-one allowed to pressure neutrals, they have to cross before the cone

Coaching Points:

- In transition moments find the 7/11 early

- Good first touch by 7/11 to set up for cross

- Movement by attackers to get into positions for the early cross

- Good firm cross on the ground curling towards attackers

- Adjusting feet to finish

Progressions / Variations:

- Allow neutrals to cross from anywhere in the channel

- Allow players to pressure the neutrals

- Remove neutrals. Teams will be (1, 2, 3, 10, 7, 9) v (1, 3, 5, 10, 9, 11)

- 2 points if scoring from an early cross
