Running with ball - change of direction (20 mins)
Organization - groups of 3 or 4 (make more teams to get repetition), each team has their lane to stay in.
Flag on far side to dribble around. Make it a competation - relay - 3 points for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd. Each race is worth points to the total scorre - Bonus points for creativty and intent (help keep game close)
Rules - players must stay in their lane, coach can vary with a ball each or use one ball to encourage passing and receiving after running with ball and communiation - connection between two players
Progression - dribble down as fast as you can, go around the cone and dribble back.
Dribble down go around the flag, go around and pass from anywhere you want. Add cones diagaonlly to do zig zag. Shuttle to short cones (change of direction). Coach stands on line and they fake and beat 1v1 on the way and way back to flaf. Add any other ideas (could be without the ball (psycho motor ability) backward, sideways, sommersault, handstand , bear crawl, crab running)
Coaching points - dribble as fast as you can, keep the ball close, head up to decelerate and go around flag or change direction.
DRIBBLE THE BALL FORWARD
SKILL ACQUISITION COACHING POINTS : Dribbling- Head Up and Eyes on the ball, Surface of the Foot to use, Surface of the ball to strike, Distance of touch, Change of Direction, Balance and Acceleration (Change of Pace) after the defender is beaten.
OBJECTIVE: To dribble the ball forward. PLAYER ACTIONS: Dribble the ball forward.
1. Inside and outside of one foot. Four Intervals.
2. Touch with inside right, touch with inside left. Four Intervals. 3. Fake and take. Five Intervals.
4. Circle take. Five Intervals.
KEY WORDS: Control, Fake, Accelerate.
GUIDED QUESTIONS: 1. How can we control the ball before performing the move? 2. Why do you need to fake a defender (cone)? 3. When do we accelerate?
ANSWERS: 1. We will take smaller touches – 2. The fake throws the defender out one way – 3. As soon as we are past the defender (cone).
