Description

  • 4 v 4 on field + 4 bouncers on sides/ends (bp 8v4) 4 small goals in corners.
  • For a shot on goal to count it must be delivered with a curve or attempted curving action.
  • If a team scores they stay on the pitch & other team swaps with bouncers.
  • scoring team changes direction & ball starts with on coming team.
  • Variation, Add GK's & go 5 v 5 or 6 v 6 adjust pitch size if needed.
  • Variation, small goals can be placed centrally width of a normal goal apart, this encourages players to bend the ball into bottom corner of goal either near or far post.
  • Variation, Place full-size goals about 5m off either end so there are no tap ins & GK's can make saves in area between end of pitch & goal.
  • Coaching points
  • if curving/bending the ball right to left strike through the ball on the right side of centre.
  • if curving/bending the ball left to right strike through the ball on the left side of centre.
  • follow through to gain maximum ball contact & impart spin, try variations on your follow through (direct or draw your leg across your body for instance) & see how this affects the delivery outcome.

  • attacking ball at an angle will add body rotation through your delivery, change the angle to experiment,

hit under the ball slightly if you wish to gain elevation.

  • If your bending the ball left to right aim at the post on left of your target goal to compensate for curve.
  • If your bending the ball right to left aim at the post on right of your target goal to compensate for curve.
  • A ball hit in the air will usually curve more as it slows down.
  • Run or dribble the ball & try to put a curve on the ball as you travel.
  • Practice planting your standing foot at different angles & distances to the ball, & see how it affects the strike & spin off the ball.
  • Practice contacting the ball with different parts of the foot when you strike it & see how this affects your delivery.
