Screen 1 (10 mins)

Key Factors

  • Passing Accuracy & Speed

Mechanics are:

  • Look at your target
  • Eye on the ball
  • Angle of approach
  • Non-kicking foot alongside ball in a comfortable position
  • Strike centre of the ball with inside/outside of foot
  • Firm ankle
  • Follow through towards target

Organisation

  • Player A passes the ball out to player B
  • At the same time player C makes a diagonal run
  • Player B then plays a pass out to player C
  • Player C plays a pass back to player A

As this is also about following your pass, player D assumes the original position of player A. The exercise is then repeated

As a progression, you can have the red and blue C players overlapping, and the red and blue B players playing longer passes. The Red C would then join the blue team, and the blue C would join the red team.

Screen 2

Key Factors

  • Passing Accuracy, Speed

Organisation

    • Player A passes the ball out to player B
    • At the same time player C makes a diagonal run
    • Player B then plays a pass out to player C
    • Player C plays a pass to player A on the opposite side, so players C overlap each other

As this is also about following your pass, player D assumes the original position of player A. The exercise is then repeated

In set 2, player A will wait for player B in pitch 1 to receive the ball before playing his, so pitch 2 is slightly behind pitch 1.
