SET UP:
Grid set up as 3x6, 4x6, 5x6 or 5x7 depending on number of player (4v4, 5v5, 6v6, plus GKs if present).
Each square to be 5m x 5m.
Goals at either end approx. 10m from grid area.
PASSING PRACTICE:
Each team has a ball, starting with GK.
Player receives ball in square. Looking for good first touch and turn to face forward. Take time and look for a free player in good space and angle. Player cannot leave square before passing ball.
Other players take up position in empty squares looking for good position and angle to receive. Can run through occupied squares to find free square.
Team works ball up field. Once past red cones in final grid line, receiving player can set up and shoot on goal. Keepers allowed to save.
NO two players can occupy same square.
OBJECTIVES:
Looking for good off the ball movement.Take up good spaces and angles for passing and receiving.
Players should show good first touch to receive and good weight on passes. Also composure on ball as no direct resistance.
Players shooting on goal should take good first touch to set up and strike ball with next touch.
Players should be consistently scanning and have awareness of where all other players are located.
PROGRESSION:
Give a time limit to player with ball to make a pass (3-5 seconds).
Allow receiving player to advance to a free adjacent square if available.
Add 3-4 manikins to reduce number of free squares and challenge players further with this squares unavailable for use.
