SSG 1 (15 mins)

Session Organisation:

  • SSG 1 - Discuss creativity in the final 3rd & counter topic - pressing in pairs
  • Set teams into SSG to start for 15 minutes, observe movement, decisions, receiving & passing of ball mechanics
  • interventions to be individual to increase BRT

Technical Drill (25 mins)

Session Organisation:

  • Set out cones as shown, CM, STR, WNG, one side, 1 plays into 2, 2 lays ball back to 1, 1 plays ball through to 3 who makes a run around mannequin, onto ball and shoots.
  • Set out cones as shown CM, STR, WNG other side, 4 plays to 5, 5 sets ball out to 6, who receives on the back foot, opens body and touches around cone then plays ball across goal for 5 to turn mannequin and shoot
  • Back to Back drill both sides, players to rotate in number order.

Coaching Points:

  • look for mechanics of receiving the ball, instruct for eyes up & scan pitch, are players checking shoulders. Eyes on ball to receive in line, 1 touch football

Progression:

  • allow players to communicate and decide on which pattern to play
  • 1st time finish
