Tech Races

Set Up: 

  • Teams of 4-6
  • 1 Mannequin and 1 Mini Goal per group - set up as many stations as needed

Game:

  • 2 Mins Each Round.
  • Team to score most wins
  • Coaches only score points if all technical details are good

Variations:

1st Round: Half Turn, break line, Bounce, Finish

2nd Round: Double move short (Decoy), Play long, Spin, Set, Finish

3rd Round: Double Move short, play short, Round Corner, Finish

4th Round: Half Turn, support under ball, straight ball diag pass

5th Round: Hlf turn, straight run, diag pass

Calm Possession Skill

Set Up:
  • Large pitch
  • 2 teams

Game:

  • A team has to keep the ball 2 minutes to win.
  • Every time the team has the ball, timer begins. When they lose it, if they win it in 6 seconds they can carry on with their time.
  • If they don't win the ball in that time, timer resets.
  • First team to hit 2 minutes wins.
Easy/Harder 
  • Take away regain timer - Keep your time 
  • Increase regain timer to 10 seconds
  • Play 150 seconds to win

Build Skill Game

Set Up:

  • Pitch with end zones and a central area
  • End zones for transitions
Game:
  • Reds score by playing into central zone and out the opposite side
  • Blues win and can score in either end zone
  • They score by driving or playing over line and running in (offside line)
Coaching Points:
  • Expansive and calm in possession
  • Waiting for moments to play inside
  • CBs slide down as much as needed
  • Full backs wide and high, or tuck in to find angles to recieve
  • CDMs able to play and connect with each other
    • Different lines
    • Counter movements
    • Creative movements
  • Press resistant - happy to take contact
  • Breaking lines 
  • Playing off the shoulder
  • Transition of tightening up when ball is lost
  • Hold line, don't just follow.
  • Energy to get the ball back
