Technical Foundations (20 mins)

Technical Foundations

Players are dribbling around the grid looking to dribble through a gate - 5 minutes of no pressure from defenders, encourage players to perform stop start, pull back, and indise/outside turn.  After 5 minutes add defenders into the game.  Now the attackers have to avoid defenders and get through as many gates as possible.  Defenders if you win the ball and keep possession try to score in any of the mini goals.  Play for 2 minutes then rotate the defenders.

Coaching Points

  • Player on the ball recognize changing speed and direction (Don't always go the same speed).
  • Keep the ball close to you so you can move out of pressure
  • Introduce the move - when would be a good time to use this in a game? Show the players.
  • If you lose the ball - WIN IT BACK.

Activity 1 (20 mins)

Technical Activity

Player A starts the game by passing to player B who plays it back to A.  As soon as B plays it back they defend hard, A is looking to dribble past the opponent into the next grid. As soon as A looks close to getting over C shall now come and defend, A is looking to score in the mini goal.  If blue wins the ball at any point they look to score in the goal.  3 points for a goal for the attacking team 1 point if blue score. Play for 3 mins then swap the defenders.

  • Start C from a higher position.
  • BPS if an attacker performs one of the 3 skills practiced in the first actvity.

    Activity 2 (20 mins)

    Technical Activity

Player A starts the game by passing to player B who plays it to either attacker. The game is now a 2v2.  The attackers objective is to dribble or pass the ball over the red line.  Once they accomplish this 2 new defenders will come out, to prevent them scoring a goal.  If blue win at any time they look to counter in the mini goals.  Attackers get 3 points for a goal and defenders get 1 point for a mini goal.  Play for 5 minutes then swap the roles.

    Progressions

    • Start C from a higher position.
    • BPS if an attacker performs one of the 3 skills practiced in the first activity.

    Conditioned Game (15 mins)

    Conditioned Game

Teams are split evenly.  Each team is trying to complete the same objective. When they have the ball they are looking to score in the opponents goal.  If the defending team wins the ball they are looking to score in the opposite goal.  If the ball goes out at any time one pair will go off i.e. if the ball goes out of bounds in the red defensive half then the two red players would go off, and the game would quickly restart with two new red players.  1 point per goal.

    Coaching Points

    • Don't let the ball go out of bounds use your body to to shield it.
    • Once you cross the line what is your final destination?
    • How can you unbalance your opponent to create a chance
    • if you lose the ball WIN IT BACK.
