Role: CB
Explanation:
For this formation, it's important for the Centre Backs (CB)to have good ball-playing skills, as the team usually builds up from the backline. Ideally, both CBs should possess excellent technical abilities, allowingthem to dribble up the pitch, deliver accurate passes to the midfield, and playlong balls to the AM or CF. Our CBs are a combination of the two:
CB1: skilled at ball control and dribbling up the pitch toprovide precise passes into the midfield when there is space available in ourhalf.
CB2: adept at long passing, delivering the ball directly tothe AM or CF when there is an opening in the opponent's half, even under highpressure.
Overall, having both types of CBs or both the CBs have theabovementioned skills allows us to build up play effectively and create scoringopportunities for the team.

Role: Fullbacks/Wingbacks
Explanation:
The Fullbacks/WB play one of the most critical roles in thisformation. Their exceptional stamina is necessary for them to support theattack from their defensive position consistently throughout the game. They candrive the ball down the side-line and centre it to the middle before reachingthe goal line.
When Fullbacks/WBs are supporting the attack and see spacein the middle, they are expected to function as Inverted Wing Backs. While anormal Wing Back provides width to an attack, the Inverted Wing Back cutsinside and makes runs through the centre of the pitch from the opponents' box. This creates space for the players around them or provides an opportunity to pass athrough ball or take a shot. The Inverted Wing Back functions primarily as acentral midfielder during attacking, while still maintaining defensiveresponsibilities like a standard Full Back or Wing Back.
Overall, the Fullbacks/WBs are crucial to the team'ssuccess, providing support in attack while still maintaining a solid defensivefoundation.

Role: CDM
Explanation:
Defensive Midfielders (CDM) play a crucial role in the team byproviding a solid screen to prevent the opponents from reaching the defensiveline. They are physically strong and can make tackles while always offering apassing option to their teammates. Quick movement of the ball between the linesis also a critical skill for CDMs. Although the CDMs are lined up next to each other, theirroles will differ. One acts as the link between the defence and the midfield, while the other is used as a Box-to-Box (the shaded space) midfielder.
The B2B CDM is the heartbeat of the team, driving forwardwith the ball to lead attacks and tracking back to cover defensively. They mustpossess both physical and technical attributes to maintain high intensity andcontrol the game.
The holding CDM is the helmsman of the team, initiatingattacks by making precise long and medium passes to spaces at the back of theopponents' midfield or defensive line. They have a balanced attacking anddefending skill set and mind-set, always prepared for defending duringattacking and vice versa.
Both CDMs should be flexible and comfortable picking up theball in deep positions and moving it forward with urgency while protecting itfrom high-pressing opponents. They often camp on the edge of the penalty area, looking for space to shoot or create a goal-scoring opportunity.
Overall, the CDMs provide a crucial balance of defensivesolidity and attacking creativity, helping the team succeed on both ends of thepitch.

Role: CM
Explanation:
The attacking midfielders, known for their technical skills, are a key part of the team's attacking strategy. As the wing-back moves forwardto provide support on the flanks, the wider central midfielders and wingersmake runs into the central areas of the pitch, creating space and opportunitiesfor themselves and their teammates. If the wing-back plays as an invertedwing-back and moves inside, the wider central midfielders and wingers movetowards the wings to draw the opponents' defenders away from the centre andcreate more attacking space for the team.
The wingers, operating on the left and right flanks (LM andRM), are adept at dribbling in one-on-one situations and can penetrate into theopponents' box through the inside channels or rib space. They can also pass theball through this area to the back of the defensive line or execute a wall passwith the supporting wing-back to break through the opposition defence from thewing side.
The central midfielder or CAM is the team's primaryplaymaker and possesses exceptional passing accuracy, allowing them to identifyand exploit any weaknesses in the opponents' defensive line. The CAM needs tounderstand the striker's movements as they often switch places during thematch, with the center forward dropping deep into midfield while the CAM makesruns behind on the overlap. The CAM is also responsible for creating overloadshigh up the pitch, linking the wingers with the striker and finding players onthe overlap while one of the CDMs plays as a B2B midfielder.

Role:
Explanation:
To be an effective lone striker, the Centre Forward (CF)must possess physical strength, excellent ball control and have the ability tohold up play. This allows the CF to flick the ball on to attacking midfieldersor wing-backs who are making runs alongside him. Additionally, the CF must havea good understanding of the centre midfielder's movements to support possessionand link up play effectively.
In modern football, it's also common for the CF to play as afalse nine. This requires the striker to drop deep and move towards the ball inthe midfield, drawing opposition defenders out of position and creating spacebehind him. The false nine will often receive the ball in deeper positions awayfrom the opposition centre-backs, allowing the attacking midfielders or wingersto make runs into the space created.
Overall, the success of the lone striker depends on theirability to hold up the ball, create space and link up play with teammates.
