Lofted Pass Technique: Edgemont clinics U10-U12

Organization:
Grid as above with Pugg goals in centre of the lane. Grid approximately 30x30. Players with a partner and a ball.
Instructions:
Players hit a lofted pass over the Pugg goal to their partner on the opposite side of the grid. The other player recieves it, and hits a lofted pass back. Each pass that goes over the Pugg goal and is completed earns them a point.
Coaching Points:
* Head and chest behind the ball (leaning back when striking the ball)
* Contact with first three toes on foot (laces/inside of foot)
* Angle of approach and plant foot slightly behind the ball
* Stike the bottom the ball to get it in the air
Progressions:
1) Players can now add inside curl to the lofted ball to try to curve it around the Pugg goal to their partner
2) Players now hit the ball to the player in the group next to them (diagonal ball)
3) Coach lays out a sqaure of cones with bib in the middle of the grid. Player who can hit a long ball closest to the bib in the middle of the grid gets a point.
Regressions:
1) Remove the Pugg Goal
2) Reduce distace between players

*In the game coaching with attacking priniples of play. Try to keep the flow of the game for the players

Instructions:
Players dribble in the area after listening to coaches command. Coach will use a variety of touches and different dribbling techniques:
-Inside touches
-Outside touches
-Strong/weak foot touches
-Soll roll touches
-Laces touches
-Sole Roll/Step Over
-Introduce the drag turn technique
-See attached Youtube video for more mastery ideas
Coaching Points:
* Qaulity touches on the ball
* Eyes up after every touch to watch out for other players
* Short 'Messi' touches to keep the ball close, big 'Ronaldo' touches to push the ball into space to go faster
Progressions:
1) Knockout in the same area (players must control their ball while trying to knock other players balls out of the area with poke tackles
2) Split game (players must dribble through two players, and then take big touches to the edge of the area for a point
