Combination handling/diving to high ball
**exception to the game sequence rule: we can work on more skills at once by combining them. We also get to work on speed/agility and ability to recover (standing up fast) by going from a dive to a cross.

3 General Positions:
Position 1- tight crosses; often medium height or low crosses across the face of goal
tactical notes- often seen with younger (07, 08) level players; less reaction time (decision to go or stay)
Position 2- standard cross
tactical notes- overhead catching; knee drive, catching highest point
Position 3- high through-balls (balls overtop back line)
tactical notes- emphasis on starting position, decisions to go or stay, still meet overhead catching standards
Manipulations:
1. throw/toss or half volley vs kick from floor
2. goalkeepers starting position in goal (effecting prorioception and positional awareness)
3. distractions (example: players in the box)
Considerations:
1. What happens prior to a cross arriving in a game?
2. What is a GK's movement before the cross is initiated?
3. What are action sequences seen in a game?
a. cross to a recovery save or a save and an immediate cross from wide?
b. what happens if a GK drops a ball or is stuck out of position? How can we train that?
c. what happens next after a GK makes a catch? How can you work that in?
