Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): 3v2 function

Screen 1

• aim is to practice scenarios for finishing; combination play; pivot play; delay and cover; 
• GK plays a ball to the queue -> start the attack -> once finished next wave has a go
• rotation could be 1 defending - 2 attacking OR A->D->A
• D regains -> shoot in mini-goal

I. 1-2 combination/ pivot play

• middle player must be deeper so could stretch the opposite defender
• ball in wider player

1. if there is a gap, play a 1-2
2. if D is narrow, pivot play to other side
II. ball in middle player/ Ds marking each wider player->gives space to travel with the ball and attempt a shot
III. delay and cover

• as on diagram
• if ball is played around, pair must swap quickly
• stay narrow to stop a 1-2
• progress to apply quick aggressive pressure once ball is played
