Activity Name: 3 Player Combos
Description: Players work on building the 3 out of the back. Introduce the following combinations:-
1 - Give &Go - Fixo plays the ball to the ala, checks forwards then moves towards the ala to work a give and go.
2 - Parallel Pass - Fixo plays the ball to the ala, runs horizontally across court then makes a diagonal run behind the defender for a 'parallel pass' down the line.
3 - Fixo plays the ball then makes the horizontal run again. They then make the diagonal run but this time 'block' the defender so that the ala can come behind them and bring the ball towards the center of the court. Blocking player must be stationary when they block, with their hands by their side. Fixo should use the sole of the foot to attack the space centrally behind the ala.
4 - Fixo plays the ball and moves towards the opposite side ala, the opposite ala comes in to the middle and works the give and go with the ala on the ball. Example - Fixo passes to right side ala and moves towards the left side of the court. As the fixo moves towards the left side of the court the left side ala comes across the court towards the right side ala and works a give and go with them. The left side ala is now in the fixo position and the fixo is now in the left side ala position.
Coaching Points:
- Good communication.
- Timing and angles of runs.
- Futsal technique on the ball - sole of the foot, scooping, turn and face, etc.

Activity Name: 3v3 Target Play
Activity Description: Play 3v3 in the main area with 2 players from each team on each end line (This can be modified based on numbers with more or less players being targets - for larger groups play two 3v3, one on each half of the court). The aim is to find one of your target players on the one end of the court. If you do this then the target player passes the ball back to you, or one of your team mates, and your team tries to attack the other end and complete a pass to one of your target players on that end. Every time possession switches over, the team gaining possession may start the activity by going to their target players on either end.
IMPORTANT - SWITCH THE TARGET PLAYERS AND PLAYERS ON THE COURT REGULARALY.
PROGRESSION - Option 1 - The player who passes the ball switches with the target player. The target player now dribbles on with the ball. Option 2 - The player who passes the ball stays on the court and the other players on their team who are on the court switch with their target players.
LOW NUMBERS - if you have low numbers just have one target player on each end. This player is a neutral target player and can receive passes from either team. With this format the players on the court could not switch with the target player as the target player is a neutral player. Keep the same target player for several minutes and then switch them.
Coaching Points
- Technical elements - control with sole, scooping, turn and face.
- Communication

Activity Name: Pairs Ball Mastery
Description: Arrange players in pairs and have them by a set of cones. Players should be stood 1-2 strides apart. Have 1 ball between the pair. Players work on various ball mastery skills and combine them with futsal specific skills...examples..
- 4 soccer boxes then toe poke to partner.
- 4 toe taps then sole roll forward to partner.
- 4 pull-pushes and then scoop to partner.
- 4 boxes, sole delay backwards and then pass through gate.
- 1 ball each sole roll across body and then roll ball forward with sole of the other foot to partner (players must use same foot as their partner - right roll across body, left roll forward to partner).
- Be creative and come up with other combinations. Make sure the skills are done at pace. Challenge players by making it a competition...a point every time the ball is switched from one partner to the other.
Variations - On command 'dribble' whichever player has the ball dribbles and tries to go through as many gates as they can. The player without the ball chases their partner and tries to stop them. It they get possession of the ball roles switch. Go for a minute and then return to skills.- On command 'switch' player without the ball stays and the player with the ball dribbles to find a new partner and continues the skill they were doing with a different partner.
If you have an odd number of players coach should join in.
