Decision Making Corridor (Modification)
Description: (5 v 5 - 7 v 7)
- 3 Zones as marked
- Attacking team (blue) tries to play forward to eventually dribble through one of the three gates on the far side
- Defending team is only allowed to defend their zone and cannot leave the back line of their zone until the ball enters the zone
- Attacking players are able to move anywhere within their own zone
- Attacking team can send 1 extra player into an advanced zone when the ball crosses into the zone
- Defending team counters on the other team through the other gates when winning the ball (no restriction to space when ball transfers possession)
- If ball goes out, restarts in first zone and attacking team tries to attack again
- Switch roles after a few minutes, adding score all along
Progressions:
- Allow defenders to leave the line, but must stay in their zone
- Allow attackers to dribble across zones
- Allow attackers to move backwards a zone to create even more overload
- Remove zonal restrictions to defending team, but not attacking team
Coaching Points:
Attack
- Movement off the ball to create opportunities to move the ball forward
- Patient play to find the right opportunity to penetrate into the next zone
- Quick ball movement to find the late run coming from the extra attacker joining the zone
- Creative ball movement to get into the attacking zone
Defense
- Discipline to not allow the ball to move forward
- Communication with the advanced zone to assist them in defending their area
- Effective pressure/cover to limit the attacks ability to penetrate
- Explosive counter attack when ball is won to get it forward
- Strong challenges to make attackers heads go down.

- Movement to create better space and angles of support or to get in behind the first defender
- Effective communication to increase speed of play
- Skilled attacking play to beat the two defenders (Not just "brute force")
Defense

- Communication from the second defender to help first defender
- Angle of cover from second defender to make it more difficult to get in behind
- Aggressive, hard tackling to win the ball
- Quick, explosive transition from both players to get across the line.
