Breakout Counter Attack (20 mins)

- Two teams split equally, two neutral wingers & one GK.

- Starting from the coach, they feed the ball into one of two teams fairly each attempt to counter-attack.

- The team in possession have to complete a number of passes before breaking out of the area, playing to either winger and counter-attacking.

- The team in possession can use both wingers whilst attacking, and if needed, whilst trying to complete the number of passes.

- If the defending team win back the ball, they try to play the ball back to the coach.

- An attacking position can be added to make it more game realistic, with a defender marking & competing for the possession.

- Swapping the wingers & attackers after so many attempts (numbers to make it fair).

Progression

- Make the area bigger, remove the wingers and/ or the striker to allow players to make the choice when comfortable.

Focus

- Forward & through balls when breaking

- Type of runs into the attacking third

- Identifying the right time to counter-attack

2v2 Flying Changes

Side A starts by shooting on goal unopposed. Teams can't shoot until they cross half-way. As soon as Side A ball is out of play, Side B goes to goal, Side A recovers and tries to prevent goal. As soon as ball is out of play, the current Side A team retires and a new Side A team counterattacks the current Side B team. The pattern should always be: A-B-A-B...
