Basic principles when moving the ball forward.
NOTE - this is just mirrored for the left handside.
GK to Central Defender.
Central Defender pass the ball to the Right or Left wing back.
Wing back looks to
- Carry the ball forward if space available.
- Pass into Attacking midfielder or Striker.
- Push the ball into space to enable Striker or Wingback to run after.
Opposite Wingback can push forward to support the attack.
Attacking midfielders support the play.
Defensive midfielder site in front of Central Defenders.
Central Defenders should be at the halfway line.
GK should be positioned at the edge fo the goal area.
Striker must be in space at all times.

Basic positioning
The starting point for the basic formation we are looking to play this season.
Right and Left wing-backs start ready to receive the ball from GK or Centre half.
Aims of wing-backs.
1. Control ball from centre-half or GK.
2. Move the ball up to Right or Left attacking midfielder or Striker.
3. If pass not available push the ball into space for striker to run on to.
4. Continue run forward to link up with Striker and attacking midfielders
Central Defenders
1. Recieve ball from GK.
2. Pass ball to wing-back.
3. Follow play to ensuring you are aware of opposition players at all times.
Def Midfielder
1. Always sit in front of 2 Central defenders.
2. Be first to the ball in midfield.
3 As soon as the ball is won look to pass the ball to a teammate.
Attacking Midfielders
1. Always find space to be able to receive the ball from anywhere on the field.
2. Control and look to pass the ball into space as soon as possible.
3. Support the attack when going forward.
Striker
1. Always be available to receive the ball.
2. Look to control and pass to teammates to link the play.
3. Be able to protect the ball if none available.
4. Always be looking to run into space.
