This session was delivered by Dick Bate for the Sheffield & Hallamshire Coaches Association,12 Sept 2016. The players were from Sheffield United Academy Under 14s and the session was aimed at Level 1 and 2 coaches, although there were all levels in attendance.
The practical was preceded by a short presentation around midfield play, different roles, demands of the game etc.
A key focus was on the fact that, across 4 top leagues and international football, midfield players average just over 2 seconds per possession and 2 touches per possession.
