A session designed to introduce players to the principle of Jockeying. Time had to be taken at the start of the session to discuss with the players the basics of jockeying (how, when and where) so this should be taken into account when considering timings etc.

Topic:- Defending/Jockeying
Set-Up as per the layout slide and shown above.
Technical
As this was our first session looking at jockeying, some tile was allocated at the start of the session to discuss the different aspects of jockeying (e.g.what does jockeying look like, when to jockey, when to try and win the ball etc)
Players work in pairs. One player dribbles between the cones moving towards the goal. The other player must jockey the player focusing on the technique (e.g. footwork, body position, angle).
Once they pass the final cone, the dribbling player may have an attempt on goal which the other player must try and defend.
Once the players complete this action they then move across to the other side and re-start, swapping roles.

Topic:- Defending/Jockeying
Transition requirements:- remove 3 x cones from each side, arrange remaining cones as shown above.
Technicals:-
One player acts as defender, remaining players in the group allocate themselves at the red cones.
Play starts with the player on the left cone who mst dribble and attempt to score into the mini goal. The defending player, using the jockeying technique must try and prevent the player from scoring.
As soon as the ball is defended/goes out/a goal is scored, the attacking player immediately becomes the defender. The player on the right cone must now attack the goal.
The defending player must collect the ball after the action and return to one of the cones to act as the attacker.
