Organization Y-Drill with progressions: 1. Control with a turn, 2. One touch (set) back and through, 3. Add wall pass give-and-go before finish
Coaching Points Visual checking, verbal communication, quality of the pass, receiving on the back foot, timing of movement off the ball, running with the ball technique, quality of the finish (far post, near post, or chip the keeper)

Organization:
Area divided in half
2 teams
1 ball
Instructions:
* White team has possession of ball in their half and is passing and moving.
* 1 red player enters and tries to win possession.
* Every 4 connected passes the white team makes another red player enters and pressures.
* If red player wins ball they pass over to player in their half, or dribble over and red team keeps possession as 1 white player pressures, etc.

Game Related Practise - 12 mins
Organisation
8 blues and 8 reds in groups of 4, each in their own 8x24yd zones. Coach plays the ball in to blues who attempt to pass through whites to ther blue group. If reds intercept, then reds try to play to other red group through blues. Emphasis on defensive 4 moving together and minimising space between players.
Progression
- One defensive player can enter zone of team in possession

- Communication between defenders
- Minimise distance between defenders
- 'slide' across as attackers move the ball across the zone
- triangle of cover behind defender who moves towards ball (after progression)

Time: As required
Organisation:
-40x30 grids
-2 groups with red set up with Centre back, full backs, midfielder and striker.
-Blue players random defensive positions.
Exercise:
-Ball starts with red CB.
-They play ball into either full back.
-They aim to get ball past the opposition end line.
-If succesful restart with CB and also if any loss of possession.
-Rotate players as required.
Progression:
-Put into a full scale game of 7v7, 8v8 then 9v9.
Key Points:
-Movement into positions to receive the ball off the centre back and then GK.

Field measurements:
20x30 yards.
Explanation:
2 teams play small sided scrimmage. Dribble/kick ins from the side. Can score from anywhere.
Points:
Every goal is 1 point.

Organization:
4 v. 2 rondo
Instructions:
Everyone starts with 3 points. If you lose the ball you go in the middle and lose a point. (Initial defenders don't lose a point.) You can win the point back if you split the two defenders.
Coaching Points:
FOCUS IS ON THE DEFENDERS
- Don't get split
- 1st defender pressures: side-on body shape, force attacker to one side
- 2nd defender: angle/distance of cover, clog the passing lanes
- Communication! Tell 1st defender which way to force the attacker. "Press!" "Drop!" "I go!" Etc.
Progressions:
- One-touch
- Regression: 4v1, 5v2, 6v2. Regress as needed.
