UEFA B - Coaching a team when to man mark ( Pressing ) (30 mins)

Key Principles - Win the ball high - giving us a better chance to score.

Team Challenge - Can we win the ball high up the field when the opposition play out?

Start point - 4/8 gets ball out of feet and loops a shot into the keepers hands. ( TRANSITION ) Check players positions off that start point - Blues dispersed and being positive up the pitch.

MANAGE the reds off the GK - Dispersal - CBs split to edges of box - Push 2,3,7 & 11 on. 4&8 on different lines as well.

BIG PICTURE - When their GK has the ball - Drop / Compactness - 9&10 ( Try to make the distances managable )

9&10 - When their GK plays into one of their defenders - Closest Striker puts pressure on the ball from the side cutting the pass accross the box & back to the GK - Making their play more predictable. 2nd Striker - Could you try to screen a pass into their deepest Midfielder.

Midfield Unit - When the 9&10 press thats your trigger to push up as well. Closest winger Man mark their full back ( inside shoulder, touch tight ready to intercept the ball should it be played to him ). 4&8 - Man mark their 4&8 ( inside shoulder, touch tight ready to intercept the ball should it be played to them ) Furthest winger push up towards their spare CB inside their furthest away full back.

Defending Unit - Nearest full back to engage their winger ( inside shoulder, Keep the distance managable so if the ball is played to them you can engage & put the pressure on ). CB & other full back slide accross to give balance and cover. Don't Man Mark their striker but keep good distance from him to engage should he get the ball. Be side on & on toes should they play the ball over the top.
