Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Shooting - short or long range

Screen 1 (10 mins)

Set Up: 40x20 (or are size to suit) split into two halves. Two teams of five, four target players (positioned one on either side of the goal posts) plus a gk at each end. Two teams play a 5v5 with three players in the defending half and two in the attacking half. Objective of Game to get a shot at goal quickly as possible.

Rules: GK's always start and restart the game whenever the ball leaves the pitch or a goal is scored by rolling the ball to a player in their own half, all players must stay in their own half. Target players can have a maximum of 2 touches and all other players play as per normal game.

Scoring: If a goal is scored in the defending half counts as 3 goals. If scored off a target player first time counts for 2 goals otherwise one goal. If a player scores in attacking half counts as one goal.

Rotate players after a set time

Screen 3 (10 mins)

Progression 1: One defender can join in the attacking half during an attack but must return to his/her own half after the GK has the ball or ball possession has been lost.
