Organization:
- 2/3 field

- 11 players for blue (1GK, 2CB, 2FB, 3CM, 2W, 1ST) vs. 7 red (1GK, 2CB, 2FB, 2DM)
Instructions:
- Blue team has numerical advantage to attempt to score on Red team; encourage
attacking team to advance ball into the attacking 1/3 and look to connect with CF/Striker as quickly as
possible and force defending team (Red) to defend
- Red team can win the ball and keep possession with 5 consecutive passes for 1
point or attempt to score on target goal
- Regular LOTG apply
- Restarts from midfielders and defenders to promote movement and space for CF
- Switch players to allow them opportunities to attack and defend
Progressions:
1. Attacking team must have all their players in the attacking half for a goal to count
2. Red team wins the ball and counter attacks on target goal = 3 points if goal is
scored
Coaching Points:
1. All coaching points from the session
2. Keys for the attacking group are constant movement off the ball and keep the ball rolling
3. Can we penetrate centrally instead of settling for wide play
4. Defensively, stay compact and cut out central passing lanes
5. Keep the attacking group wide, and track runners

Functional Game (20 mins)
Organization:
-create grid as shown in diagram
-cones to mark off neutral central zone and playing area
-2 large goals
-pinnies
-balls
Instructions:
- Teams play 3v2 plus GKs in each half of the field. In order to play the ball into the other half an attacking player (Center Forward-Blue Team) must check into the neutral zone unopposed to receive the ball.
- Then attacking team can send in a third player making it a 3v3 to goal.
- If defending team wins possession the quickly transition to offense in the same manner.
Progressions:
- One player from defending team can follow the attacker into the neutral zone.
- Attacking team can send a 4th player into the opposite zone to make 4v3
- Remove restrictions altogether
Coaching Points:
1. Timing and angle of run into the neutral zone.
2. If pressured, shield the ball and push off defender to create space for pass back.
3. If touch tight use body to turn & roll the defender.
4. Timing of support run.
