3v1 transfer with T2D
1. Team Function - 3v1 transfer of possession with transition to defend
2. Team Task - A coaching practice designed to improve player’s ability to maintain possession and transfer possession
3. Organisation of Coaching Practice
• Area: 3 x (15x12) yard grids
• 3 yellow and 3 blue players start in opposite grids as the teams maintaining possession with 3 red players starting on the edge of the middle zone
• 1 red player starts by passing the ball into the yellow team and then follows their pass to create a 3v1
• Yellow players must maintain possession before transferring possession, when possession is transferred the red defender leaves the grid and is replaced by the next red defender who becomes the defender against the 3 blue players
• If the defender wins the ball, they must transfer the ball to the other zone and the team that lost possession must now quickly transition to defend
• This process continues and have a supply of footballs to maintain a high tempo
4. Football actions and principles of play
• Create space(width & depth) and by individual and team mobility
• Weight, accuracy, quality and selection of passing off both sides
• Open body shape receiving with back foot and good first touch
• Angle and distance of support with communication between players
• Awareness of space to play in and of defenders position in the 3v1 and when to transfer
• Transition to defend – quick reactions to win the ball back
