1v1 - Technical (15 mins)

GK1 starts position A.

GK2 at yellow cone with foam football

GK3 at blue cone ready to run towards blue mini goal.

Coach calls "Yellow/Blue".

If yellow GK2 turns and tries to score through yellow mini goal.

- GK1 to protect goal with block/spread save.

(foam football is used in this part due to repetition of save - this helps GK build confidence of the Block shape without the risk of injury in training)

If blue GK3 runs after the ball towards blue mini goal

- GK1 to make the smother/spread save

Drill covers - 1v1 saves both at close range and when striker takes a heavy touch or there is a bigger distance from a through ball.

Discuss the technique of how to use the save to also protect the GK from striker.

Progession: discuss when you would use Block, Smother or Spread saves in 1v1 situations
