Set Up
4 10x10 squares (Diagonal Squares the same colour)
1 5x5 square in the middle different colour then outside squares
Outside squares 10 yards apart
20 cones
Instructions
- The objective of the game is to catch the opposite team by getting three passes and switching the ball
- A ball is played into each square on the outside from two defending players in the middle box (Every time defender wins the ball a new ball from the middle square|Designate two defenders to always defend the same team
- Both teams on the outside attempt to get three passes without the ball leaving the square
- After three passes the team can switch the ball to one of their players running to the empty square (The ball cannot be touched in between squares by attackers or defenders)
- Once player receives the ball the rest of the team can join them and attempt to get three passes again. (If the player does not receive the ball then they must return to their grid and a new ball is played in)
Learn | Show players the final vision for the game | Coaches join the demonstration by becoming one of the teams in the outside square (Have one of the players pass the ball in but limit them to walking pace
Repeat| Once coaches transfer the ball have the opposite team attempt three passes and switch the ball with no defender
Apply| The coaches become the defending team and demonstrate how to pass the ball in to play and what happens if the ball is won by defenders (New ball played in by defender in the square) as well as what defenders do if there is a successful switch ( New defender runs in without a ball and tries to steal the ball from players in the new square
Coaching Points
Learn | Football is opposites - go left to go right | Keep body shape open like a bench and pass the ball out of pressure inside small square
Repeat| Timing of run | Choose when the right time is to make a run into the next box while defenders decide when to pass
Apply| Speed of play | Quickly transition into boxes and play the ball before defenders can close you down | Once you've drawn the defenders in look for space to play around them|

Set up
- Players on both teams are numbered 1-6 (Number by ability)
- If too many players leave a third team waiting
- Winner stays on or cycle of 3 minute marks
Instructions
- Must only mark and tackle your opposite number, Cannot tackle any other number
- Three teams
- Winner stays on
Coaching Points:
Attack
- Change of direction(Fake left go right), change of pace (Turtle to cheetah)
- First touch towards the opponent (Open foot to 90 degrees)
- Dribble at players to make them engage
- If the ball look to create a 2 vs 1 with overlap and underlap (Stay off the shoulder with defender)
Defend
- Defenders close down (big steps, small steps, jockey)
- Defenders make the attack predictable
- We must defend well in training to improve our 1v1 attack. Once we improve the attack, we must improve the defending
If there are too many players, mirror the session into two grids. Demo off one grid
